Privacy policy

This policy explains how Money Monty handles information when you visit our website, ask us to find a business finance broker, or contact us.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

1. About this policy

Money Monty is an Australian business finance referral and matching service. We are not a lender or finance broker, and we do not provide credit or financial advice.

This policy applies to our website, matching process and related communications. It is designed with Australian privacy principles in mind. Privacy rights and obligations may also apply under Australian law depending on the circumstances.

2. Information we collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number and preferred way to be contacted.
  • Business and funding details, including information about your business, industry, funding purpose, timing, requested amount and answers you provide during the matching process.
  • Communications, including enquiries, feedback, complaints and records of messages exchanged with us.
  • Mobile verification records, including whether and when your number was verified and provider identifiers used to audit the verification. We do not store the one-time code you enter.
  • Technical and usage information, such as IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referral source and cookie or analytics data.

Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request and we have asked you to provide it.

3. Where information comes from

We usually collect information directly from you when you complete questions, use our website, contact us or communicate with a broker through an introduction. We may also receive information from a person acting for your business, a matched broker, our service providers, or website analytics and cookie tools.

If you give us information about another person, you should have authority to do so and tell them that their information may be handled under this policy.

4. How we use information

We may use information to:

  • understand your request and identify a broker who may fit your circumstances;
  • make and manage an introduction between you and one or more brokers;
  • contact you about your match, enquiry or use of the service;
  • send a one-time SMS and verify that the mobile number belongs to you;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve our website and matching process;
  • measure website performance and understand how people use our service;
  • respond to requests, complaints or legal obligations; and
  • prevent misuse, fraud or security incidents.

Where consent is relevant, you can withdraw it by contacting us. Withdrawal will not affect handling that has already occurred, and it may mean we cannot continue your match.

5. When we disclose information

We may disclose information to:

  • one or more brokers where this is needed to provide the match you requested and allow the broker to contact you;
  • providers that support our website, hosting, cloud storage, analytics, communications, security and business operations;
  • Twilio, which sends our verification SMS and processes mobile verification records on our behalf;
  • professional advisers where reasonably necessary; and
  • regulators, courts, law enforcement or other parties where required or permitted by law, or where needed to protect rights, safety or the integrity of our service.

Brokers and other third parties may have their own privacy practices. You should review their privacy information before providing additional details to them.

6. Contact and direct marketing

By requesting a match, you ask us to contact you and to share the details needed for the introduction with a matched broker. The broker may then contact you by phone, SMS or email about your request.

If we send direct marketing, you can opt out using the unsubscribe option in the message or by emailing us. Service messages about a match you requested may still be sent where needed to complete or manage that request.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences, keep the site working, understand traffic and improve the experience. Analytics providers may collect technical and usage data on our behalf. You can control many cookies through your browser settings, although blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

8. Overseas and cloud processing

Some service providers may store or process information using cloud infrastructure in Australia or overseas. The locations involved may vary as providers change their systems. Where appropriate, we take reasonable steps to select providers and arrangements that support suitable handling and security of information.

9. Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect information against loss, misuse, interference and unauthorised access or disclosure. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, our business records, dispute handling, security and applicable legal requirements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it where appropriate.

10. Access, correction and deletion requests

You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. Other rights may also apply under law. We may need to verify your identity and may retain certain information where required or permitted. If we cannot meet a request, we will explain why where appropriate.

11. Privacy complaints

If you have a privacy concern, email us with enough detail for us to understand and investigate it. We will aim to respond within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Information about privacy complaints is available at oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our service, providers or legal obligations change. The current version will be posted on this page with its last updated date. Material changes may also be communicated in another reasonable way.
